Against the backdrop of America’s worsening chronic health crisis, two insidious “dragons” are wreaking havoc on oral health – Acid (Airway) Reflux and Insulin Resistance/Diabetes. These systemic conditions silently erode tooth structure and bone, often before patients are aware they exist. In this eye-opening presentation, Susan will guide participants in recognizing the oral manifestations of these conditions and, more importantly, challenge the dental profession’s reliance on conventional periodontal treatment methods like SRP. She will advocate for a shift toward root-cause analysis and lifestyle-based intervention—empowering dental professionals to embrace a more impactful role in facilitating lasting health behavior change.
